Piranha Proppant (formerly Chieftain Sand) produces and delivers superior quality Wonewoc substrate silica sand, which is used as a preferred proppant in unconventional oil and gas wells. The Piranha facilities include a wet and dry plant, with a name plate capacity of 1.5 million tons per annum, is strategically located on approximately 600 acres in New Auburn, WI with an estimated 38 million tons of reserves. The Northern White Wonewoc frac sand meets or exceeds API standards including, roundness, and sphericity and crush resistance. Fine grade sands represent approximately 70% of the reserves in place. Piranha’s Wisconsin plant is located on the Union Pacific railway (UP) with unit train capabilities onsite.
